I had a client who was having a bad checksum error on his PC, and a keboard error.  A Dell XPS Studio desktop.  He couldn't get to the Windows screen.  He recently purchased a new motherboard (using his old Intel i7 processor) and power supply.  When I placed my USB device in his computer I was able to run diagnostics and everything passed in DOS.  I reinstalled Windows 8 and everything was fine.

2 weeks later, he decided to turn the machine on since the last time I was there and his fan would rev up really high, but couldn't log into windows.  He kept getting 5 beeps (which mean a motherboard or BIOS issue).  Again I placed the USB device in to run diagnostics.  It took a while but I was able to get to the Setup to Run the computer from the USB.  Once I did I noticed that in the diagnostics from the USB in DOS, it showed he has a AMD processor, not the Intel.  Which I thought very strange.  Everything passed again, and the computer seemed to fix itself.  I was able to get into Windows.  And when I ran Service Center 8, it showed that he indeed has an Intel i7 installed on his motherboard.  But when I ran the USB device again through DOS, it showed he has an AMD chip.
Can someone please explain why this is happening?  By the way, before I ran the diagnostics, I removed the CMOS battery and reset the CMOS using the jumper.  I even switched out the CMOS battery to see maybe it as a defective battery.  That didn't work either.  But the issue I would like to have an answer to is why the USB in DOS shows he has an AMD processor, and when I run SC8 in Windows it shows he has an i7.
Please advise.

Thanks!

I have never seen that behavior before, and can't honestly think of anything that would cause our software to behave that way. If you don't mind I would like to get some additional information from our software to determine what could cause that behavior.

For DOS, please gather the Tech Support form using these steps:
   1. Launch the PC-Doctor DOS program as you normally would.
   2. Select Log Drive (C) [PC-Doctor] Hard Drive (Selectable).
   3. Select option R - Run Service Center.
   4. Select Utility.
   5. Arrow down to the Tech Support Form and - Press enter then F5.
   6. Let Service Center for DOS collect the system information.
   7. Save the form onto the USB Device.

For Windows, please obtain the System Information by following these steps:
   1. Click the System Information tab
   2. Click the System Information report type
   3. Choose Advanced View to adjust the level of detail in the system information report
   4. Save the system information report by clicking on the save icon next to the list of views.

I will be sending an email address to you via PM, once you have collected the logs please send them to us and I will take a look and try to find what could be causing the misinformation.

Thanks for your help,
Kris
