Hello, everyone! I'm an Easytech at Staples, and we have the PC Doctor Service Center 7.5 behind our counter. Strangely, in the two years i've worked here, we've also possessed an older USB multipurpose dongle, and it is running a previous version of the service center. I've usually left it be, as we have a dongle for the 7.5 center as well.

One of our newer associates found that the two drives are different and tried to update the older drive using the Service Center 7.5 install disc, and i'm guessing he didn't see the blatant compatibility warning that i saw when i tried to reflash it earlier today.

As a result of updating it, the drive still boots to the service center, albeit with the 7.5 splash screen, but upon trying to run any tests, we get the dreaded "unable to recognize the Multipurpose USB device or the blue parallel dongle" screen.

I took the drive home with me tonight in hopes of obtaining a previous version of the service center to reflash it, but the drive doesn't have any version number on it, and nobody knows what became of our previous toolkit, i'm assuming it was thrown away after 7.5 was purchased.

So it boils down to this. I'm assuming the device is still viable, seeing as how it still boots and all, but it requires an older image to be flashed to it. I've linked to a picture of the drive itself (files are too big to upload as attachments :P), but with no version numbers, it'll be hard to find the proper image.

The dongle itself, no version numbers or dates anywhere on the device or card

The device plugged into my laptop (the indicator light on the drive is a steady green)

Breakingspell,

Do you have any Service Center 7.0 discs available?  If so, you can try to re-image the dongle using the included restore mud utility.  If you do not have the CD available you will have to contact our support <http://www.pc-doctor.com/support.php> for a possible RMA, as I do not have the capability to perform one here on the forums.

Unfortunately, we don't have the disc handy, the Service Center kit was already replaced at 7.5 by the time i was employed, but the old flash drive stuck around. I guess we'll just have to dig deep to see if we can't find the old kit or ask around the district, see if anyone has the discs
