Dear Fred,
I tested my friends desktop computer that wouldn't boot by inserting the PCI post card in the PCI slot and got the following results:
33 plus all the green lights then flashed C1 followed by C3. His desktop computer is a Packard Bell ixtreme X8540. I can't find what these codes mean can you help.
p.s Its the original motherboard that came with the computer

You need to find out what BIOS this system uses,  Google is your friend ;).

Once you find that out go to http://www.bioscentral.com/  Here you will find information on what these codes mean.

It is likely a Foxconn mobo with an Award BIOS, but you would need to verify that with the physical system before assuming that is correct.

If so, it sounds like a memory error.
