jgteleplan,

Is the system running normally other than this or are you diagnosing a particular problem?

I have seen similar issues with some laptop systems. The controller does not respond as expected to the self test command.

If the SATA controller self test is skipped do the other hard drive test pass?  In situations such as this I would suggest skipping the controller test and just running the drive tests.

Fred,

The system is running normally. The hard drive and ODD passed the pc-dr normal test.
The question is why other units (same model) passed pc-dr Quick test.

jgteleplan,

Please compare the system's BIOS settings for the controller.  The ones that pass are probably in compatibility mode and the one that freezes in AHCI mode.

AHCI implementation has been somewhat of a moving target.
