I am running PC Dr. on an HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook. It would blue screen and would not accept a new copy of Windows XP. I replaced the HD and it still would error out during the OS loading. I began to run PC DR and the following rest immediately failed Extended Fast Pattern, Extended Fast Address, Extended Code Test, Extended medium Pattern, Extended Medium Address, Extended Heavy Pattern, Extended Heavy Address, and Extended Advanced Pattern. I have not used PC DR for very long but to me this appears as though there is a problem with the memory. (please correct me if I am wrong) What I don't understand is why the  Disk 0 Random verify would fail? The hard drive is brand new. Is it the problem with the RAM causing the problem with the HD Verify? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

computertriage,

It appears as your RAM is bad.  Bad memory will cause disk failure as Disk I/O goes through the processor and memory. If the memory is bad the data read from the disk will be corrupted.

Fred,

Thanks so much for the assistance. I was able to find and remove the bad stick of RAM and load the OS and necessary programs without a hitch. Sure saved me a lot of time. Thanks so much again.
