Hello, I am trying to figure out how to use my kit. when I plug in my pci post tool, this is what I get:

I am guessing the error code is 0-29, but when I look this code here I cannot find it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

Hello cystic,

Unfortunately there are no industry standards for POST codes and they vary by manufacturer. The Service Center POST card is only designed to display these codes. Finding out what the codes mean and how to interpret them could require some detective work. You may need to search the Internet or contact the motherboard manufacturer directly.

I understand, I mainly just wanted to make sure I was reading it properly since I didn't see the code is listed. So the code posted in the picture is 0-29, correct?

Hello Cystic,

You can ignore the "0", so the post code would be 29.  In viewing the list of Dell POST Codes I found the following:

29    CMOS configuration validation in progress

Hi,
I'm going to ask a stupid question :)

I always found it difficult to find out what motherboard is in the system. If the computer isn't switching on, how can you find out what motherboard I'm looking at? This is something that it has always baffled me and now more than ever because I have just bought this kit, I would love to know this. That way I can really use the codes, otherwise the diagnostic card is useless without me knowing what board I'm troubleshooting.
Thanks!

another question, the post card has a cable, that goes from the card to where? I don't see any mention of where the other end of the cable must go? Also what is the use of this cable?
Thanks, I'm sure there will be loads more questions as I want to make sure I get the most out of this kit.
Monica.

Hello Monica,

I am not exactly sure which cable you are referring to other than the cable to the "remote" display.  The remote display connect via a cable to the POST card.  This device can be used in the event that card is in a place making it difficult to read the output.  By attaching the remote, via the cable, you can place the card in the difficult to read location and read the output on the remote.

Thank you for your answer, it's just that it was with the standard post card, it only dawned on me then that the mini pci card doesn't have the lcd display.
