Jimmy,

The MCP7A chipset is a brand new architecture, Service Center 6 was not tested on it. Service Center 7 will work with it.

I see that this topic is a few years old but I have recently experienced the same problem.

Dell XPS M1710
Windows 7 Home Prem.
64 bit
Intel Centrino Core2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83GHz
8 gb memory (Kingston DDR2-SDRAM [PC2-5300/667 MHz] SO-DIMM)

When I run PC Checkup utility which is part of Dell Support System (v. 3.1.5907.12)I get a warning that system failed the Modulo20 test. It also shows a number in red - WME07-DCV

I have removed the memory modules and reseated them and still get the same results. The must puzzling part is when I run the stress memory test I don't get an "Failed" alert.

Not sure what version of PC-Doctor that Dell incorporates in DSS, but I notice in answer to a previous question it was noted that an update to PC-Doctor was suppose to address the issue of 8 gb of ram.

Can you advise me what to do about this warning.

Thanks

Hello DavidWKing,

The number being displayed is an error code that is returned when a module returns a failed result.

In order to better assist you, could I get you to gather some debug logs for us to review?
To generate debug logs please follow the steps below:
  • Launch a DOS prompt with elevated privileges (run as admin)
  • Browse to the installation directory, the default location is C:\program files\dell support center
  • Type pcdrcui.exe -enabledebuglogs (note:leave this open as it will be needed again
  • Now launch Dell Support Center from the start menu and run the failing test
  • When completed shut down the UI and return to the DOS window
  • Type in pcdrcui.exe -disabledebuglogs
  • Press the Windows key plus R (this brings up the run window)
  • type in %programdata% and press enter
  • You should see a PCDr folder, if not you will have to show hidden files, see the instructions below if needed.
  • In the PCDr folder you will find four digit folder names, look for 5907, which is the build you are currently running
  • zip up the contents of the logs directory and attach them to this message
  • When I receive them I will pass them on to our engineers for review.
  • Could you also attach the saved test log?

How to show hidden files:
  • Open a folder
  • Click on the organize menu option
  • Click on folder and search options
  • Click on the view tab
  • Look for the Hidden files and folders header
  • click on the show hidden files, folders and drives option
  • Click on apply
  • Click on the apply to folders button.

While I am waiting on your response I will try to reproduce the issue on a system with at least 8GB of RAM.

Thanks,

jbpcdr
