Hi Everyone,
Been using the PC-Doctor Service 7.5 for a few weeks now and love it. I hit a speed bump today. I went to load the Diagnostic CD into a Dell Latitude D830, it reads the CD drive without problems and then prompts for the USB. Once I plug the USB into the unit and select OK button, the Service Center Window is suppose to appear and it does but it does not have any graphics. In the lower lefthand corner of the service center's blank window it says $(please wait) then underneath it says $(Enumerating)
Any suggestions on how to get past this??? Thanks for your feedback.

Joe,

This can happen if there is an issue enumerating a device in the computer. Try un-installing, then re-installing with the USB key inserted. This will make sure that it is not an installation issue.

You may also want to try booting from the USB key and running the DOS version. Test the memory, if the memory is bad, PC-Doctor may have problems, it is after all software. This may also tell you if you have a bad piece of hardware.

Laptops can be tricky sometimes.  Occasionally the purpose built hardware in them confuses PC-Doctor.  Most often this results in the device not being testable not a hang but it is possible.  I believe we have a D830 in the lab.  If we do I'll fire up Service Center on it and see if there are any issues and get back to you.

Hi Fred,
Thanks for the fast reply. I allready did what you suggested and made sure to attempt to boot to the USB directly. It did. The hardware tested fine thru DOS including memory. If there are any other suggestions I'd appreciate it. I'm new to PC-Doctor and I know everything has a learning curve until you get some expierience using it. Thanks for all you do. ;-)

Joe,

If the system passes the DOS tests, most likely your hardware is fine and there is a driver issue.  With Service Center the DOS and Windows tests are best used as a team.  DOS will test the hardware directly, with no intervening drivers and Windows tests the system as a whole.

Usually when PC-Doctor hangs on enumeration there is some indication as to what it is enumerating at the time.  This gives us a place to start.  Unfortunately this is not the case in your situation, a blank screen is of little help.

Let me do a little research on this and get back to you.

Joe,

I just wanted to confirm that the Windows version has and does work properly on other systems.  I want to rule out bad media.
