PC Doctor error code DW530-1W

Hi,

Recently my DVD writer had been failing to write to DVD media so I performed a     re-writable media test using PC Doctor to test it for a hardware failure. The test returned an error message of DW530-1W. My DVD writer is a lite-on SOHW-1633S with firmware BPSA within a Compaq Presario SR1460AN. I believe this is an OEM CD/DVD writer combo. I am still able to burn to CD media ok but not to DVD. I am currently using CDBurnerXpPro to burn data. The software recognises the writer and in recorder information it states it can burn to both CD and DVD Media.

Could someone please explain what the error code "DW530-1W" is, as I need to decide whether to replace the writer or repair the existing one.

The error code is meaningfull to Compaq technical support.  It is a DVD write error code.  I suspect you have media that is not compatible with this drive.  Not all media works with all drives.  Look on the manufacturers site for a media compatibility list, purchase one of the compatible DVD-RW disks and retest.
