Hi I have been thinking a lot lately about starting a at home pc repair business and I just had a couple of questions.  After looking a lot online I figured out I was going to use 1 of 2 options for diagnostics.  Those 2 options were either PC-Doctor software or free software.  My question is that all I really want is a bootable software package that uses something like windows pe that has all the diagnostics tools in one package that I would need.  From looking through the site I am not exactly sure which product would be best for this.  There is a diagnostic kit for $350 but all I really want is the software.  Maybe I should be looking at pc doctor factory or pc doctor preload solutions?  I guess I am not really seeing the difference in these 2 products so this is where I become confused.  If someone could point me in the direction of which product would be best for my needs that would be great.

Thanks

omgpancakes,

The preload and factory would not apply in your situation.  These are used by large OEM's to preload PC-Doctor on systems for customers to use and to build systems in the factory.

Service Center would be the product for you.  There are two kits to choose from, Standard and premier.  The standard kit includes a minimum of hardware, basically loopback devices and is lower cost.  The premier kit includes the POST cards Standard and mini PCI and Power supply tester, it is $120.00 more to cover the cost of the hardware.

In your situation I would get the regular Service Center kit.  Free software is always an option and the price is hard to argue with but you get what you pay for....

No I agree, I would much rather pay and get updates and support to have the best diagnostic tools.  I was just wondering if there was just a software package that was cheaper then the kit but I guess the kit might have to do.  Thanks for the quick response.

omgpancakes,

You are welcome.  The standard kit is basically software only.  It includes the software, the USB Key for locking, a parallel port loopback / locking device for systems that won't work with USB.  There is also a RJ45 loopback and a DB9 Serial loopback.  They are pretty much free of charge.
