Please help.............  I was updating bios and lost power before it finished.. Now all I get is "Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0 BIOS ROM checksum error"... I put in a recovery disc  is says Detecting IDE ATAPI device  Found CDROM, try to boot from it...Pass    then nothing?  I changed the CMos batterry  still nothing// I am a complete illeriterate pc user.. I talked to Hp they told me to do the battery... now they say find a tech.....(boo hoo)  .  Is there any way I can undo my mess?  PLEAE tell me I haven't lost all my files...   Thank you, Nettsey

Place the bios files on a floppy disk,  remove the battery from the system and reboot.  Most systems have a failsafe in the bios so when they power on with no battery they will load the bios found on the floppy drive.

Your files are not lost they are safe on the hard disk.  Even if you can not repair the BIOS on the system the drive can be mounted in another system and the files retrieved.
