I have run System board test category on HP pavillion ze4500 laptop. DMA channels 0 and 1 have failed. What could be the culprit? Thank You.

pc-tech,

The PC-Doctor Service Center DOS DMA Channels Test verifies that the DMA controllers are operating properly.  It does this by
1) writing patterns to the DMA registers and page registers, and
2) performing a DMA read and write transfer.
When errors are detected doing this, the test fails.

However on some systems, the page registers are write-only and cannot be tested and will therefore fail as well.

I believe the HP ze4500 is in the write only category. Please go to the support site http://www.pcdservicecenter.com/support.php, scroll down to the bottom fill out the form and paste your logs in the space provided.  We will make sure this is the case.
