CPU Cache and RAM testing

I have read that when using a software memory diagnostics tool it is advisable to disable CPU cache. Not to do so is to render testing invalid as the contents of the RAM are not tested for write\read integrity only the CPU cache.

When using PC Doctor for testing RAM modules would you also advise that the CPU cache is disabled? (In my experience this is not possible on most PCs)

It’s always nice to hear from users that are aware of and interested in the finer points of testing.

The PC-Doctor memory testing algorithms both in DOS and Windows are specifically designed to defeat caching.

When cache is disabled we found that memory tests ran orders of magnitude slower. We found that defeating the cache programmatically was more efficient.  Even with this faster method 64GB takes almost 24 hours to do an extended advanced pattern test.

We are developing tests that disable cache and use advanced algorithms designed to be more efficient in this environment.
